The Art & Industry Festival Heads To Modscape

  • November 17th, 2016

The Art & Industry Festival kicks off today and runs for 10 days, celebrating and investigating the ever-changing industrial and manufacturing heartland of Australia based in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

The new Festival puts a spotlight on the local industrial creators and resources in the Hobsons Bay area and enables artists to develop works which engage and inspire – telling stories of the area both historical and current.

A key event of the Festival is Western Lights in which artist Phil Lethlean will light some of the West’s favourite industrial buildings and spaces. Locals and camera buffs are then invited to step out after dark with cameras and smartphones to capture some of these luminously-dressed industrial beacons – including the Modscape factory. At the end of the Festival, the winning six photographs will be selected and printed into postcards promoting the region.

Alongside the Modscape factory, budding photographers can snap the Westgate Bridge (down by Douglas Parade, Spotswood), the Scienceworks Pumping Station and the Mobil Tank, Altona.

Photos can be emailed to: entries@artandindustryfestival.com.au and winners will be announced online after the Festival. For more information and a full festival program visit http://artandindustryfestival.com.au/.  We look forward to seeing you and your camera when the sun goes down.
