You may recall our blog post earlier in the year detailing Tesla’s plans to produce a ‘home battery‘ which could revolutionise how the average household consumes energy.
Well last week Tesla revealed that Australia has been “prioritised” as one of the first countries to get the new battery storage solution – the Powerwall. And it looks set to land here before the end of the year.
The Powerwall is a lithium-ion battery system which can store excess energy generated by the solar panels on your roof.
Pricing and further details on how to purchase the product in Australia are to be released by Tesla in the coming weeks. Once the batteries do hit our shores though, combining them with solar panels in your prefab modular home could allow you to avoid buying electricity altogether from utility companies.
All of Modscape’s eco-friendly prefab modular homes and buildings are based on sustainable design principles that minimise environmental impact, maximise year round comfort and reduce running costs. These principles are applied to every aspect of the design, material selection, systems utilised and operations.
So it’s no surprise that we may be adding the Powerwall to our list of sustainable systems used in our modular homes as soon as we get our green little hands on them!
