Mckellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre

The new 16-bed facility will provide more than 5,800 days of care, enabling an estimated 355 more Geelong locals to access vital mental health services every year.

In collaboration with the Victorian Health Building Authority, Lendlease and NTC Architects, we delivered this 137 Module Project as part of the Victorian Government’s investment towards the delivery of new acute public mental health beds across Victoria.

Modscape was selected as the modular provider to  deliver 16 acute mental health beds at McKellar Centre, Geelong as part of the Mental Health Beds Expansion Program.

The Program aimed to increase capacity, reduce pressure on emergency departments and provide additional support for people experiencing psychological distress who require immediate treatment.

The new 16-bed mental health facility at the McKellar Centre will provide more than 5,800 days of care, enabling an estimated 355 more Geelong locals to access vital mental health services every year.

The new beds are a response to a key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and will address critical demand pressures.

‘Better design’ is one of our pillars, and this has never been more important as more research is conducted into the effects that our environments have on us – both physically and mentally.
