Modscape Recycled Over 90% Construction Waste Delivering Modular Commercial Project
The stats are in! Following the delivery of 272 modules for the Centres for National Resilience in Melbourne and Brisbane, Modscape is elated to announce that just 9.53% of the project’s construction waste went to landfill. In other words, 90.47% of all waste was recycled!
This is great result for all involved, and further reinforces our belief that modular construction is the most sustainable way to build! The monthly waste summary during the project was provided to courtesy of waste management experts BINGO Industries.

According to an UNSW report, Australia generated more than 27 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste (C&DW) between 2008-2009, accounting for roughly 44% of the total generated waste in Australia.
Despite the C&DW advancements, the output is far from optimum. For instance, the recycling rate of C&DW in Australia is still lower than other developed countries such as the Netherlands, which has an almost 90% recycling rate. Additionally, the increasing amount of C&DW generation in Australia is estimated at 32% in the last thirteen years – so we think our figure 9.53% is certainly a step in the right direction.
